Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electric Vehicle (EV) Technician to join our dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of sustainable mobility. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electric vehicles, focusing on their intricate electrical systems, battery components, charging infrastructure, and drivetrains.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults in battery systems, electric motors, power electronics, and controllers.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of electrical and performance issues using specialized diagnostic tools.
- Inspect and repair high-voltage wiring harnesses, connectors, and insulation faults.
- Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to validate repair solutions and ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on EV systems including cooling systems, sensors, and software updates.
- Inspect and service charging ports, contactors, relays, and fuses to prevent breakdowns.
- Replace worn or damaged parts in line with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report potential issues for proactive resolution.
- Test, calibrate, and verify charging systems, high-voltage circuits, and control units.
- Conduct battery state-of-health and performance tests to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Use diagnostic equipment to measure and adjust voltage, current, and insulation resistance.
- Document test results and provide feedback for system improvements.
- Implement strict adherence to high-voltage electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Perform insulation and continuity testing to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace and ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of batteries.
- Participate in regular safety drills and EV-specific training programs.
- Assist in retrofitting or converting conventional vehicles to electric powertrains.
- Support the installation and integration of EV components, such as inverters, controllers, and battery packs.
- Test retrofitted systems to ensure compatibility and performance optimization.
- Provide technical input during EV component selection and configuration for upgrade projects.
Qualifications
- National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor’s Degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of hands-on experience in the automobile industry, with exposure to both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Certification in Electric Vehicle Maintenance, High-Voltage Systems, or Mechatronics is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems, including high-voltage (HV) safety protocols.
- Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain electric and hybrid vehicle systems.
- Proficiency in using EV diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and battery analyzers.
- Competence in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and OEM repair manuals.
- Familiarity with charging systems, power electronics, and energy storage systems.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance schedules and workshop safety standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical work.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
- High level of professionalism and reliability under minimal supervision.
