Job Description

Embark on a rewarding career as a Graduate Building Surveyor with an experienced team, contributing to a comprehensive range of Building Surveying services across diverse commercial properties.

This program emphasizes early and consistent client exposure, providing invaluable opportunities to build relationships and develop confidence in real-world settings from the start. You will be supported through a 24-month program designed to guide you toward completing the APC and becoming a chartered Surveyor.

The role is full-time, offering extensive on-the-job training, supplemented by participation in external events and forums. You will gain practical experience in both professional and contract surveying, handling instructions that can range significantly in value and scope, including roles as designer, contract administrator, and project manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist an experienced team in delivering a full range of building surveying instructions on commercial properties (offices, retail, industrial).
  • Engage in professional works including Schedule of Dilapidations, pre-acquisition surveys, party wall awards, defect diagnosis, planned preventative maintenance reports, reinstatement cost assessments, retail delivery, and schedule of conditions.
  • Participate in contract work, potentially acting as designer, contract administrator, or project manager for instructions ranging from £10k to £2.5 million.
  • Contribute to project management of multi-discipline teams for instructions typically ranging from £2.5 million to £20 million.
  • Work on instructions related to existing buildings, often with a landlord or tenant aspect.
  • Collaborate with an internal CAD team for drawing work.
  • Gain a mixture of work to become a well-rounded surveyor.

Qualifications

  • RICS Accredited Degree for the Building Surveying Pathway with honors at lower second standard (2:2) or equivalent.
  • GCSE grade 4 (or C) or above in English and mathematics.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to client requirements.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of training and career development.
  • Readiness to take responsibility, act on initiative, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Enjoyment of working in different environments (on-site and in the office).
