Job Description

SeaLearn Academy, located in Lagos, Nigeria, is committed to delivering outstanding maritime education through integrated learning, practical training, and industry collaborations. We offer globally recognized STCW '78 courses and other industry-specific programs, all adhering to regulatory standards. Additionally, we will provide long-term courses leading to Diploma and Bachelor's certificates.

We are seeking a dedicated Maritime Instructor for our faculty. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instructional and vocational training in maritime subjects, preparing trainees for successful careers. This includes conducting theoretical and practical classes, ensuring compliance with STCW and IMO regulations, and contributing to the development of skilled maritime professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver vocational courses in nautical science, marine engineering, maritime safety, seamanship, cargo work, repair and maintenance.
  • Fabricate props and mockups for practical training and skill development.
  • Conduct classroom instruction, practical training, and assessments.
  • Provide skill enhancement support and career guidance to trainees and students.
  • Maintain training records and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Collaborate with instructors and staff to improve curriculum and student outcomes.
  • Stay current with industry trends, maritime regulations, and educational best practices.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safety protocols are in place and rigorously followed in classrooms, workshops, and practical workspaces.

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at a maritime academy or similar institution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Located near Apapa, Lagos.
  • Valid STCW certifications for Able Seafarer Deck / Engine and oil / chemical tanker endorsements.
  • Minimum 7 years of sea-going experience as a Bosun / Able Seafarer / Motorman/ Fitter (deck or engine) on board an ocean-going ship.
  • Holds certificate of an Administration approved Train the Trainer course.
  • Familiarity with IMO Model Course requirements and other industry standards.
  • Proficient in the use of machinery, equipment, tools, and other maritime education technologies.
