Job Description

We are actively seeking a motivated M&A Associate to join our fully remote, full-time team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to our Mergers & Acquisitions team, supporting the entire acquisition lifecycle from initial research and evaluation through to due diligence and successful execution.

In this dynamic position, you will be instrumental in identifying and sourcing promising software businesses, developing targeted outreach strategies, and cultivating strong relationships with potential targets and M&A advisors. You will conduct preliminary assessments, manage a robust deal pipeline, and perform in-depth industry and market research to uncover new opportunities. Your ability to analyze complex data, synthesize information into actionable insights, and drive acquisition processes forward will be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and source software businesses that meet acquisition criteria and key performance metrics.
  • Develop and execute targeted prospecting campaigns via email and outbound calls, testing new business development strategies.
  • Build and nurture relationships with prospective acquisition targets and sell-side M&A investment banking firms.
  • Lead preliminary evaluations of potential acquisitions, including initial business and financial due diligence, and opportunity/risk assessments.
  • Own and manage a robust deal pipeline, ensuring it is consistently updated with new targets and information.
  • Conduct industry and market research to identify trends and uncover new acquisition opportunities.
  • Review and analyze investment materials, synthesizing large volumes of data into clear, concise, and actionable insights and presentations.
  • Independently drive acquisition opportunities forward, understanding deal scope and maintaining momentum throughout the process.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks effectively based on deal timelines and strategic importance.
  • Provide ad hoc analytical and operational support to the broader team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and successful deal execution.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Corporate Development is required.
  • Prior experience with software M&A transactions is a must.
  • Strong academic performance from a top-tier institution.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional maturity and confidence in interacting with C-level executives.
  • Highly proactive, self-directed, and driven, with strong sales and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Solid foundation in accounting principles and financial modeling.
  • Understanding of software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical ability, pattern recognition skills, and advanced Excel proficiency.
