Job Description

PZ Cussons is seeking a skilled Plant Utility Technician (Mechanical) to join our team in Ikorodu. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of our plant's essential utility systems.

You will be responsible for the hands-on operation and maintenance of gas/diesel generators, boilers, and air compressors. Your duties will include repairing mechanical equipment, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring the continuous availability of utilities to support production factories.

This position also involves managing consumables and critical spares, participating in management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001), and maintaining accurate documentation and reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain gas/diesel generators, boilers, and air compressors.
  • Repair and maintain fire hydrant pumps.
  • Prepare weekly energy reports and log running parameters for utility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot faults on all utility and general site mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of consumables and critical spares.
  • Participate in and support the implementation of management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
  • Ensure generators and utility equipment meet production load demands with proper documentation.
  • Maintain mechanical equipment in good working condition.
  • Ensure fire hydrant pumps are always operational.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment parameters and spare parts inventory.

Qualifications

  • ND/HND/BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities quickly.
  • Demonstrated leadership and technical skills.
