Job Description

Heartbeat Health is seeking a dedicated Virtual Medical Assistant to join our dynamic clinical care team. This full-time, remote position operates Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the forefront of virtual cardiovascular care.

In this role, you will be instrumental in managing patient interactions, ensuring a smooth and efficient virtual visit experience. You will handle patient intake, verify information, schedule appointments, and prepare patients for their consultations with physicians. Your ability to connect with patients, troubleshoot technical issues, and document vital information accurately will be key to your success.

You will also perform essential clinical duties, including utilizing translator services for non-English speaking patients, charting, documenting symptoms, and recording patient vitals. Maintaining clear communication with providers and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed promptly will be a core part of your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive warm hand-offs of patients from internal and external call transfers.
  • Verify patient contact information.
  • Schedule initial physician visits.
  • Establish a plan for obtaining patient vitals.
  • Conduct initial KCCQ surveys.
  • Obtain baseline vitals, including weight, if able.
  • Perform medication reconciliation.
  • Verify medical history and diagnostic information.
  • Arrange for lab draws and diagnostic tests.
  • Prepare patients for physician visits, ensuring video and audio functionality.
  • Add interpreters as needed for patient communication.
  • Obtain signed consent forms.
  • Obtain photos of insurance cards.
  • Utilize translator services to communicate with non-English speaking patients.
  • Prepare charts for visits.
  • Initiate patient visits and document reported symptoms.
  • Record patient's height, weight, and vitals based on outside records or self-reported information.
  • Identify and document the patient's preferred pharmacy in their chart.
  • Maintain communication with the provider, reporting relevant information.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Conduct appointment confirmation calls for the next day.
  • Perform chart checks and prepare charts for upcoming visits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, specifically within Cardiology.
  • Exceptional people skills and outstanding communication abilities.
  • Passion for delivering an outstanding patient experience.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on processes.
  • Ability to learn quickly while remaining flexible and adaptable.
  • Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Self-driven and excited to support new technology.
  • Experience with providing virtual care to patients.
