Job Description

Layer3 is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to plan, direct, and coordinate the delivery and support of network services for our enterprise clients. This role is essential for managing both existing and new network infrastructure, ensuring seamless system and network administration.

You will be responsible for providing hands-on engineering support for a wide range of switching and routing technologies, analyzing network failures, and troubleshooting complex issues. This includes configuring LAN/WAN/WLAN links, contributing to network design, and developing automation for network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on engineering-level support on switching and routing technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, spanning tree protocols (MSTP, RSTP), 802.1x, 802.11, 802.16, VPN, DMVPN, SDN, VRRP/HSRP, WAN Acceleration, QoS, VoIP, VTC, Cloud, and Automation.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot network communication failures and bottlenecks.
  • Review system logs to identify potential issues and troubleshoot network problems.
  • Perform switching tasks such as VTP, ISL/802.1q, IPSec and GRE Tunneling, VLANs, EtherChannel, Trunking, Port Security, STP, and RSTP.
  • Configure LAN/WAN/WLAN links using VSI/L2VC for MPLS L2VPN.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required.
  • Contribute to design, configuration, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks ensuring stability, integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Design and configure internal/external networks for assigned projects.
  • Supervise implementation, testing, and handover of IP/MPLS services.
  • Perform proactive corrective maintenance for IP/MPLS networks.
  • Develop automation and tools for IP/MPLS network operations and integration.
  • Plan, configure, and implement network solutions.
  • Design and develop routing topology for core, access, metro, and edge infrastructures.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives using Cloud, Security, Big Data, IoT, SDN, SDS, and SD-WAN.
  • Respond to RFQs and prepare technical proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience troubleshooting and managing IP networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, and Bluecoat.
  • Thorough understanding of networking technologies and protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems.
  • Advanced structured cabling knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
