Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Head of Compliance to lead and strengthen our financial institution's adherence to regulatory standards.

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and meticulously overseeing the bank's comprehensive compliance framework. Your expertise will ensure unwavering adherence to all regulatory mandates, internal policies, and industry best practices, fostering a robust culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Your responsibilities will encompass critical areas such as regulatory reporting, proactive compliance monitoring, robust Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) protocols, and serving as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Bank’s compliance framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NDIC, and other applicable regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate and prepare regulatory returns and compliance reports.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulators and coordinate regulatory examinations and audits.
  • Oversee AML/CFT compliance, including KYC, customer due diligence, and suspicious transaction reporting.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews and risk assessments.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise Management on regulatory implications.
  • Conduct compliance training and awareness programmes for staff.
  • Report compliance activities and issues to Executive Management and the Board.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Track and ensure timely resolution of regulatory and audit issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Relevant professional certification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in compliance, risk, or regulatory functions in a bank or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of CBN regulations, AML/CFT regulations, and NDIC requirements.
  • Experience in regulatory reporting and compliance monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of microfinance banking regulatory environment.
