Job Description

The Africa Leadership Foundation (ALF) is seeking a dynamic Democracy & Capacity Development Manager to lead impactful initiatives in Lagos. This senior role is responsible for designing and implementing programs that foster democratic governance reforms and strengthen institutional capacity. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Director on strategy, engage with government institutions and civil society, and drive progress in transparency and accountability. Your expertise will be crucial in building relationships, managing donor-funded projects, and producing valuable knowledge products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate programs supporting democratic governance reforms.
  • Design and implement capacity-building programs for stakeholders.
  • Promote good governance, transparency, and accountability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government, civil society, and partners.
  • Manage democracy and capacity development programs.
  • Lead proposal development and fundraising initiatives.
  • Conduct governance research and policy analysis.
  • Produce policy briefs, reports, and knowledge products.
  • Contribute to work plans, budgets, monitoring, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional experience in governance, democracy, public policy, or related areas, including senior or leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of democratic governance systems.
  • Experience managing donor-funded projects.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and proposal development.
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-stakeholder and multicultural environments.
