TotalEnergies is seeking a skilled Advanced Process Control Engineer/Technologist to join the OneTech Branch at the TRTG site in Le Havre, France.
This strategic role is crucial for enhancing the operational performance of industrial assets through advanced process control (APC) and optimization. You will work with diverse environments and collaborate closely with site teams to support, deploy, and continuously optimize APC solutions, contributing to improved operational stability, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction.
Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing control loops, analyzing control schemes for improvement, and implementing enhancements. You will also contribute to defining and deploying APC roadmaps, developing APC applications, conducting step tests, and leading commissioning phases. The role involves coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and monitoring the performance of APC applications.
Furthermore, you will provide support to industrial sites for process control and APC-related issues, ensure the long-term sustainability of APC applications, and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Active participation in the APC professional network, sharing best practices, and capitalizing on lessons learned are also integral to this position.
This is a permanent position based at TRTG (Le Havre), with regular travel to TotalEnergies industrial sites across the Exploration & Production and Refining & Chemicals branches. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize complex control loops.
- Analyze control schemes, identify improvement levers, and contribute to enhancing process stability and energy performance.
- Implement proposed improvements and carry out post-audits in collaboration with site teams.
- Contribute to defining and deploying APC roadmaps together with local teams.
- Perform preliminary studies (benefit studies) and estimate associated budgets.
- Develop APC applications, conduct step tests, and lead commissioning phases.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams (process, instrumentation, analyzers, control systems, etc.).
- Monitor the performance of APC applications during operation.
- Support industrial sites in resolving issues related to process control or APC applications.
- Ensure the long-term sustainability of APC applications in operation and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Actively contribute to the APC professional network led by PCO.
- Capitalize on and share best practices, methodologies, and lessons learned.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Process Engineering, Automation, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in Advanced Process Control and/or Process Control, ideally in Oil & Gas environments (platforms and refineries).
- Strong knowledge of industrial processes.
- Solid command of APC methodologies and ability to manage high-stakes technical projects.
- Strong analytical, modeling, and performance optimization skills.
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
- Autonomous, well-organized, and proactive.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Open-minded, collaborative, and comfortable working in a multicultural environment.
- Professional proficiency in French and English.
