Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator with specialized Hyper-V expertise to join our infrastructure team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot our Windows-based server environments, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our virtualized infrastructure.

This role involves designing, implementing, and managing virtual environments, configuring virtual machines, and optimizing resource allocation. You will also be responsible for enforcing IT security policies, performing security assessments, and maintaining system backups and disaster recovery plans.

Collaboration with other IT professionals is key to ensuring seamless delivery of IT services. You will also be responsible for documenting configurations and providing regular reports on system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and manage Windows Server operating systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patching, updates, and firmware upgrades.
  • Monitor server health, resource utilization, and resolve system alerts.
  • Ensure Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies are properly configured and optimized.
  • Automate administrative tasks using scripting tools like PowerShell.
  • Design, implement, and manage virtual environments using Hyper-V.
  • Configure and maintain virtual machines, templates, and snapshots.
  • Optimize VM resource allocation, load balancing, and performance.
  • Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures for Windows and VM systems.
  • Perform security assessments and vulnerability management.
  • Maintain system backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks on physical and virtual servers.
  • Analyze system logs and provide timely resolution for technical issues.
  • Collaborate with network and storage teams for integrated IT support.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for server and virtualization configurations.
  • Provide regular reports on system performance, capacity planning, and uptime metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Windows/Unix Systems Administrator.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server OS (2019/2022) and services like Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Proficiency with Virtualization technologies, including Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with NAS storage systems in a virtualized environment.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery tools.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
  • Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, etc.) and firewall configurations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on documentation and process adherence.
  • Relevant certifications in Windows Systems administration are highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in system upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting in complex IT environments.
  • Availability to work outside of standard hours for maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation as needed.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS in hybrid setups (preferred).
  • Exposure to VMware, vSphere, ESXi or other virtualization platforms (preferred).
  • Experience with NAS systems and Network configuration (preferred).
