Job Description

MacTay is seeking a skilled Microwave Transmission Planner (MW TX Planner) to join our technical team in Lagos. This full-time, on-site role is essential for designing, planning, and optimizing our microwave transmission networks to ensure superior performance and reliability.

Your responsibilities will include detailed path planning, link budget analysis, and interference analysis for microwave transmission links. You will also conduct capacity planning based on traffic reports, perform site surveys (TSSR, LoS checks), and manage frequency planning in compliance with regulatory bodies like the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The ideal candidate will develop High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD), design resilient network topologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications, coupled with 3-5 years of relevant experience and proficiency in tools like Pathloss, is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and plan microwave transmission links, including path planning, link budget analysis, and interference analysis.
  • Conduct capacity planning by analyzing traffic reports and recommending upgrades, expansions, or new site builds (NSB).
  • Perform Technical Site Surveys (TSSR), Line-of-Sight (LoS) checks, and path surveys to validate feasibility of microwave links.
  • Execute frequency planning and management, including Carrier-to-Interference (C/I) analysis and maintaining frequency records with regulatory bodies such as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
  • Develop High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) to support network optimization and efficient traffic transmission.
  • Design network topologies (ring, star, chain) to ensure redundancy and resilience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RF, Core, Implementation) to ensure seamless network deployment and integration.
  • Monitor network performance and recommend improvements to enhance service quality and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in microwave network planning or transmission engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of digital microwave radio technologies, antenna systems, modulation schemes, and capacity planning (e.g., Huawei solutions).
  • Proven ability to design network topologies (ring, star, chain) with a focus on redundancy.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard planning tools such as Pathloss (5.0/4.0), iRIVER, Atoll, TEMS, or similar RF design software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required to meet project deadlines.
