Job Description

GRF CPAs & Advisors is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to join their thriving Outsourced Accounting and Advisory Services team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional looking to leverage their expertise in cloud-based accounting systems and support a diverse client base, particularly government contractors.

In this position, you will play a key role in managing monthly close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing valuable insights to clients. You will utilize and implement leading accounting software, collaborate effectively with team members, and mentor junior staff, contributing to the firm's commitment to high-quality service delivery and client success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage various aspects of the monthly close process including reconciliations, preparation of supporting schedules, financial analysis, quality review, and financial reporting.
  • Apply strong knowledge of accrual basis accounting to enter and review transactions, resolve variances, and ensure accurate general ledger management.
  • Utilize, train, and implement cloud-based accounting tools such as Bill.com, Expensify, and other platforms commonly used by government contractors.
  • Coordinate different phases of engagements with supervisors or managers, review workpapers for accuracy and completeness, and maintain clear client communication.
  • Provide oversight and coaching to staff accountants; offer guidance, feedback, and support professional development.
  • Assist clients with understanding financial statements, compliance with government contracting requirements, indirect rate calculations, and cost accounting standards.
  • Ensure deliverables are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and firm protocols.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and prioritize responsive, high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public accounting or private industry, with progressive responsibility. Experience with government contractors strongly preferred. Prior CPA firm experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Unanet required or strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools such as Bill.com, Expensify, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across diverse client accounts.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
