Job Description

Join Kestra Medical Technologies, a leader in innovative cardiac medical devices, as a Patient Billing Associate specializing in Collections. This remote role is crucial for managing patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, and optimizing cash flow.

You will be responsible for generating patient statements, reconciling balances, and handling inbound patient inquiries regarding their billing. A key aspect of this role involves working with patients to establish suitable payment arrangements, including payment plans, financial assistance applications, and negotiated discounts, all while adhering to Kestra's policies and procedures.

This position requires a proactive approach to collecting on outstanding balances, minimizing bad debt, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the patient collection process. You will collaborate closely with customer support teams to ensure a consistently positive customer experience that aligns with Kestra's core values.

The role operates Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm Pacific Standard Time, and offers the opportunity to work alongside the Director of Collections to enhance overall collection strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate patient statements and reconcile balances with insurance explanations of benefits (EOB) and the statement system.
  • Support call center operations by handling inbound patient calls, addressing billing inquiries, and providing clarifications.
  • Work with patients to establish payment terms, including payment plans, financial assistance applications, and negotiated discounts.
  • Utilize RCM systems to process patient payments via credit card and bank account, set up payment plans, and initiate billing/statement holds.
  • Research and resolve patient billing concerns, escalating issues to leadership as needed.
  • Identify and initiate appropriate transactions for refunds, adjustments, or write-offs to resolve open accounts receivable (AR).
  • Initiate outbound patient calls to drive cash collections.
  • Identify and communicate issues leading to patient complaints to supervisors for continuous process improvement.
  • Review and complete daily/weekly tasks to achieve patient collection goals.
  • Assist in the development of training materials for cross-functional sharing.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the healthcare billing and/or collection environment.
  • 3 years of experience in a healthcare customer service environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with DME/HME environment (preferred).
  • Experience with Bonafide and/or CollectPlus (preferred).
  • Experience with Salesforce (preferred).
