Job Description
Paystack is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Web Designer to elevate our digital presence and enhance the user experience across Africa. This pivotal role involves transforming our public-facing web assets into engaging, high-performance platforms that delight businesses and their customers.
As a Senior Web Designer, you will be instrumental in owning the end-to-end design and build of our primary website, microsites, product pages, and campaign landing pages. Your expertise will ensure these platforms are not only visually stunning but also highly functional, accessible, and optimized for conversion. You will work closely with our Design Studio Lead and collaborate with dedicated frontend engineers, bringing a unique blend of design sensibility and technical proficiency to every project.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lagos, Nigeria, offering a dynamic environment where your creativity and technical skills will directly contribute to Paystack's mission of powering African ambition.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end public web presence, from paystack.com to microsites and campaign-specific landing pages, taking briefs from concept through to shipped, production-ready experiences.
- Design and build interfaces yourself, translating briefs, product narratives, and visual direction into pixel-perfect, responsive, accessible, and fast UIs.
- Create strong work even without a full brief, shaping interaction patterns, motion, and web experience concepts where requirements are not fully formed.
- Build for scale by creating reusable components, patterns, and interaction systems that accelerate future web work and maintain the design system across web properties.
- Optimize for people, not just pages, by building with performance, accessibility, and conversion in mind across various devices and connection speeds.
- Bring engineering judgment to creative decisions, weighing animation approach and maintainability, and partnering closely with engineers on deeper performance and systems work.
- Actively participate in design critiques, share work early, and contribute to the team's collective taste and design standards.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of web design or design engineering experience at a tech-forward, product-driven company.
- A sharp eye for typography, layout, motion, and detail, with the ability to implement pixel-perfect UIs from spec or concept.
- Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS, comfortable working in React (TypeScript is a plus), and experience with modern frontend tooling and Git.
- Ability to write clean, shippable front-end code without needing to be a full software engineer.
- Experience with motion and interactivity on the web using tools like GSAP, Framer Motion, CSS animations, or scroll-driven animation.
- A portfolio showcasing interactive or motion-heavy web work (e.g., microsites, WebGL experiments, CSS art, Figma plugins).
- Fluency in Figma, capable of bridging design and build processes and collaborating effectively with designers.
- Proven ability to take a brief and deliver a polished, production-ready web experience end-to-end with minimal direction.
- Commitment to accessibility (WCAG) and cross-browser, cross-device support as default practices.
- Familiarity with Webflow or similar low-code tools, SEO best practices, and web analytics or conversion tracking.
- Strong product and storytelling instincts, with excellent decision-making skills in ambiguous situations.
- Experience using LLMs or AI development tools to accelerate exploration and delivery.
- Bonus: Understanding of frontend performance fundamentals (image optimization, loading strategy, Core Web Vitals) and designing with real-world network conditions in mind.
- Bonus: Experience with Three.js, WebGL, React Three Fiber, or other immersive web technologies.
