Job Description
We are seeking a visionary leader to spearhead the establishment and growth of our payments business in Nigeria.
This executive role involves defining and executing comprehensive market entry and growth strategies, ensuring the seamless setup and scaling of operations to handle high-volume transactions and new product lines.
You will serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, and lead crucial licensing efforts. Building and managing strong relationships with local and international banks, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and liquidity partners will be paramount.
Key responsibilities include overseeing efficient settlement flows, transaction processing frameworks, and developing a robust FX and liquidity management strategy. This involves sourcing liquidity, managing pricing, and identifying opportunities in cross-border payments and FX markets, including digital assets.
The role demands the design and implementation of operational infrastructure, controls, and processes from the ground up, alongside establishing strong risk management and compliance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end setup and scaling of the Nigeria payments business.
- Define and execute market entry and growth strategy.
- Design scalable operating models to support high-volume transactions and new product lines.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, including the Central Bank of Nigeria.
- Lead licensing efforts (e.g., IMTO or relevant frameworks).
- Ensure full compliance within Nigeria’s regulatory landscape.
- Build and manage relationships with local & international banks, PSPs, and liquidity partners.
- Oversee efficient settlement flows and transaction processing frameworks.
- Develop and manage a network of FX counterparties and liquidity providers.
- Oversee treasury operations including liquidity sourcing, pricing, and risk management.
- Identify opportunities within cross-border payments and FX markets, including digital assets (e.g., stablecoins).
- Design and implement operational infrastructure, controls, and processes from the ground up.
- Establish strong risk management and compliance frameworks.
- Oversee transaction processing, reconciliation, and reporting systems.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in payments and financial services, with a strong understanding of the Nigerian market.
- Proven track record in business development, strategy execution, and scaling operations.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, particularly those governing payments and financial institutions in Nigeria.
- Experience in building and managing relationships with financial institutions and partners.
- Expertise in treasury operations, FX management, and liquidity sourcing.
- Strong leadership and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
