Job Description
We are seeking a customer-focused and highly organized Checkout Manager to lead our checkout unit. You will be instrumental in shaping the final customer experience, ensuring satisfaction by guiding the cashier and porter team. Your focus will be on delivering a seamless, friendly, and efficient checkout process, resolving issues promptly, and upholding exceptional service standards.
In this role, you will develop and manage staff schedules, oversee cashiers and porters to ensure excellent customer service, and direct housekeeping duties. You will also be responsible for daily cash-ups, managing change, assisting customers with queries, and training staff to provide efficient and friendly service.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage schedules for tills and checkout personnel to uphold customer service standards.
- Coordinate lunch breaks, cashing-up breaks, and provide backup staffing as needed.
- Oversee Cashiers and Porters, ensuring excellent customer service through proper handling, packing, and carrying of customers' goods.
- Direct and maintain control over all housekeeping duties, including cleaning, wrapping, packing, and managing trolleys, baskets, and checkout drawers.
- Ensure daily cash-ups for all Cashiers, conduct regular spot checks on opening tills, and manage change requisitions and issuances accurately.
- Proactively assist customers with price queries, merchandise questions, and loyalty card inquiries.
- Encourage customers to utilize feedback channels to continually improve satisfaction.
- Train and motivate checkout staff to provide efficient and exceptionally friendly service.
- Coach employees in special circumstances such as theft, complaints, returns, exchanges, coupons, and special offers.
- Direct and implement staff buying procedures, maintaining control over the process to enhance the overall customer experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum of B.Sc./ HND in any related field.
- Minimum of 4 years in customer service operations or banking experience as customer/Teller service specialist.
- Must have either of NYSC discharged/exemption or exclusion letter.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to train and motivate a team.
- Excellent cash handling and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ability to handle customer complaints and special circumstances with tact and professionalism.
- Strong organizational and scheduling abilities.
