Job Description

Modern Family Law is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) to significantly enhance our client-facing legal technology platform.

Our platform empowers clients by facilitating tasks, providing case updates, enabling document uploads, managing payments, and fostering communication with their legal team. While the product is currently in use, we are looking for a designer to identify and resolve user friction points, improve overall usability, and craft intuitive experiences that guide clients confidently through their legal journeys.

This role emphasizes user experience, workflow optimization, and product design. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and the development team to understand user behavior, simplify complex processes, and design scalable solutions as the platform continues its growth trajectory.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong blend of UX thinking, exceptional visual design skills, and experience designing SaaS products with intricate workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze user behavior and identify friction points throughout the client journey.
  • Conduct usability testing and user research to understand pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review support requests, customer feedback, and product usage patterns to uncover UX issues.
  • Create user journeys, process maps, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Simplify complex workflows and improve task completion rates.
  • Design new product features from concept through implementation.
  • Improve existing workflows including onboarding, authentication, task management, payments, document uploads, and client communications.
  • Create intuitive experiences that guide users through complex legal processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to translate business requirements into user-centered solutions.
  • Develop high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes in Figma.
  • Establish and maintain a scalable design system.
  • Create reusable design patterns and components.
  • Ensure consistency across the product experience.
  • Help define UX standards and best practices for future development.
  • Define and track UX success metrics.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to implement analytics and user behavior tracking.
  • Identify drop-off points and opportunities for conversion improvements.
  • Use data and user feedback to drive design decisions.
  • Partner closely with attorneys, legal staff, operations leaders, product stakeholders, and development teams to understand client needs, business workflows, and product requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers and technology stakeholders to ensure design solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with the overall product roadmap.
  • Translate complex legal and operational processes into clear, user-friendly product experiences.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, or a related field.
  • Experience designing SaaS or web-based applications.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX problem-solving and workflow optimization.
  • Expertise in user flows, wireframing, prototyping, and interaction design.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture and usability principles.
  • Experience designing for complex, multi-step workflows.
  • Experience in LegalTech, FinTech, HealthTech, Insurance, or other workflow-heavy industries (Preferred).
  • Experience conducting usability testing and user research (Preferred).
  • Experience implementing or leveraging product analytics (Preferred).
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices (Preferred).
  • Ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively with employees, managers, leadership, attorneys, support staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter who can operate independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, reliability, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical solutions to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Flexibility and ability to respond positively to shifting priorities and business needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work in a primarily computer-based environment, including extended periods of sitting, screen time, typing, and use of standard office equipment.
