Job Description

Alder Group is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to lead high-impact Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects across Southeast Queensland and Northern Rivers NSW.

This role is crucial for the end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring paramount focus on safety, quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction. You will be responsible for fostering a positive team environment, conducting regular HSEQ inspections, and representing Alder Group professionally with all stakeholders.

Key duties include reviewing project documentation to identify risks, managing strict cost control and financial reporting, developing detailed project programs, and building strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. You will also oversee subcontractor performance, manage head contract claims, and prepare monthly project reports for senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a positive, proactive environment for staff and subcontractors
  • Lead regular HSEQ inspections and promote a strong safety culture
  • Represent Alder professionally with clients, partners, and stakeholders
  • Review project documentation early to identify risks, defects, or potential delays
  • Manage strict cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programs (short and long term)
  • Support the estimating team with tender inputs as required
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Review and contribute to subcontractor scopes, programs, and documentation
  • Thoroughly review drawings, specifications, and technical documents throughout the project lifecycle
  • Organise and chair project start-up meetings and coordinate internal support teams
  • Identify, monitor, and manage key project risks
  • Ensure subcontractor performance aligns with project requirements and specifications
  • Deliver projects within agreed timeframes, budgets, and contractual obligations
  • Manage head contract claims, variations, extensions of time, and progress matters
  • Prepare monthly project reports for Senior Management
  • Approve invoicing within delegated authority limits
  • Oversee project close-out, commissioning, and final contract completion

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or related discipline (highly desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager in Civil & Infrastructure
  • Experience in Water and Wastewater projects is highly advantageous
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support project teams
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • High level of digital proficiency
  • Strong commercial awareness and commitment to meeting time and financial targets
