Job Description
The United Nations is seeking a dedicated Electoral Officer to join its global team, contributing to the implementation of vital electoral programs and processes across various missions. In this role, you will provide expert advisory services to national counterparts, focusing on areas such as legal reform, operational planning, and public outreach. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the implementation of electoral programs and processes in areas such as legal drafting, dispute resolution, planning, operations, procurement, logistics, ICT, data analysis, training, external relations, public information, civic education, gender mainstreaming, and capacity-building.
- Provide project and program management support, including budget management, monitoring, and reporting to national counterparts, donors, and UN bodies.
- Offer and, in exceptional cases, supervise technical assistance and advice in the aforementioned areas.
- Contribute to and monitor the capacity-building of national counterparts and the strengthening of national institutions.
- Supervise and manage the performance of national and, in some cases, international staff assigned to the area of responsibility.
- Monitor the impact of domestic and international norms on female participation and advise Electoral Management Bodies on corrective measures.
- Maintain professional partnerships with national counterparts and other key stakeholders.
- Compile and provide regular briefings and reports in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and provide insights using data visualization methods.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in elections and related areas.
- Experience in implementing, supporting, or advising on electoral processes is required.
- Fluency in English or French (reading, writing, listening, and speaking at UN Level III).
