Job Description

TotalEnergies is seeking a motivated Market Access Analyst to join its dynamic Energy Management team in France.

In this role, you will be instrumental in managing the energy portfolios for TotalEnergies' clients, ensuring smooth market access operations. Your responsibilities will include responding to client inquiries, executing pricing strategies in accordance with established frameworks, and liaising with trading and middle office teams to ensure market coverage.

You will also be responsible for the contractual follow-up of clients with market access, collaborating closely with sales, customer service, and billing departments. This position involves preparing daily, weekly, and monthly energy market reports, as well as conducting quarterly market webinars for clients and sales teams.

Furthermore, you will contribute to proposing improvements in pricing and risk hedging methods, and ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and reflected in exposure and risk monitoring tools.

An integral part of this role includes actively participating in lobbying efforts related to regulations impacting the energy market.

You will also manage the sourcing of Guarantees of Origin and Capacity Certificates, optimizing sourcing costs across various market platforms and maturities. This includes analyzing market price trends for electricity and gas certificates and automating tracking tools.

A key responsibility is to propose a coverage strategy for the upcoming month, subject to validation by Energy Management leadership. You will also monitor regulatory changes to alert management of potential impacts on commercial activities and engage in industry events to foster market insights.

Cross-functional collaboration with portfolio management, risk, and trading teams is essential for operational efficiency. You will contribute to the development and optimization of existing tools and participate in the Pricer/CRM B2B project to ensure necessary information flow.

This role also involves managing IT system-related subjects, including monitoring tool performance, reporting operational issues, and participating in project committees with IT teams. You will be expected to uphold and enhance operational processes and provide support to commercial, customer service, and billing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute operational "Market Access" activities for clients with electricity and/or gas market access, including responding to client requests, pricing in real-time, and coordinating with Trading and Middle Office for market coverage.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (BAC+5) from an engineering school, business school, or university (e.g., Master's in Financial Markets).
  • Previous successful experience in financial markets and/or the energy sector within a trading room is appreciated.
  • Knowledge of the French electricity and/or natural gas market, or understanding of trading principles and market operations, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Mastery of Excel and programming languages (VBA is essential, Python is desirable).
  • High level of rigor, analytical skills, proactivity, and motivation are essential assets for success in this role.
