Job Description

We are seeking a talented Front End Developer to join our dynamic digital team, focusing on innovative WordPress projects.

In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering exciting projects for purpose-led clients, collaborating closely with development and design leads, as well as project management.

You will be passionate about digital development, with a proven ability to code pixel-perfect interfaces from Figma, adhering to best practices and optimizing server performance to transform ideas into exceptional digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop beautiful, high-performing WordPress websites for purpose-led brands.
  • Build great user interfaces and experiences.
  • Shape, build, and test websites.
  • Support, service, and maintain hosted websites for clients.
  • Apply best-practice, modular approaches with great attention to detail.
  • Ensure responsive front-end development.
  • Work with third-party APIs.
  • Diagnose and debug errors on the front and back end.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience.
  • Portfolio of real-world projects.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for developing great user interfaces and experiences.
  • Good communicator.
  • Solid understanding of responsive front-end development.
  • Core Frontend skills: HTML5 (Semantic Markup), CSS3 (Animations and transitions), CSS Preprocessors (SASS/SCSS), JavaScript (Vanilla JS, ES6+, OOP JS, AJAX, JSON, TypeScript), Web Components & Lit, Twig templating language (Timber in WordPress context), Developing cross-browser compatible solutions, Understanding of RESTful API design, Knowledge of build tools and package managers (NPM, Yarn, Vite), Experience with Storybook.js, Fluency with Git version control and Git Flow, Ability to understand and work with third-party APIs, Understanding of performance tools and page speed metrics, Experience diagnosing and debugging errors on the front and back end, Experience with PHP-based back ends (including WordPress where required).
  • Skills preferred: Relevant degree or qualification, Experience with Atomic Design principles and component-driven development, UI/UX skills, design sensibility, and attention to detail with web typography, Knowledge of BEM methodology, Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Experience with Shopify (not essential), Experience with static site generators (e.g. Eleventy, Astro, Gatsby), Familiarity with modern deployment workflows and CI/CD, Design background a plus.
  • Software proficiency: Figma, Adobe CS, Visual Studio Code, Atom, Vim or equivalent, Terminal (ssh, npm, etc.).
  • Eligible to work in the UK (UK /Irish citizen or with a valid UK work visa or other permission to work).
  • Ability to work UK hours and attend virtual and occasional physical meetings during UK business hours.
