Job Description

ChainGPT, a leading blockchain and AI innovator, is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team. This full-time, remote position is crucial for managing the comprehensive accounting and core finance operations across our multi-entity group, which spans various international jurisdictions.

As a hands-on operator, you will be directly responsible for maintaining audit-ready financial records, implementing disciplined controls, and ensuring compliant reporting for both crypto and fiat activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes across all entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, FX revaluation, and supporting schedules.
  • Implement and manage a standard close calendar and checklist, driving the close process to completion with clear deadlines and accountability.
  • Consistently clear monthly exceptions queues for missing invoices, unidentified flows, and stale reconciliation items.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is audit-ready by default, maintaining an organized evidence chain and clean support for every material balance and transaction.
  • Oversee bookkeeping across all entities, ensuring consistent policies, coding, and documentation standards.
  • Maintain clean intercompany operations, including invoicing, intercompany reconciliations, and balance management (with interest accruals where applicable).
  • Support arm’s-length and related-party hygiene with clear narratives and comprehensive supporting documentation (agreements, approvals, invoices, reconciliations).
  • Lead end-to-end crypto transaction accounting across various wallets, exchanges/custodians, networks, and tokens.
  • Ensure crypto balances are meticulously reconciled and supported with strong audit trails (wallet addresses, transaction hashes, exchange statements).
  • Maintain clear classification rules for diverse crypto flows, such as revenue vs. other income, custody transfers vs. external payments, gas/fees, staking/yield, airdrops, and liquidity provision.
  • Maintain schedules for realized vs. unrealized gains/losses and cost basis/lots as required for reporting and CPA support.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate finance controls for a lean team, including approvals, segregation of duties where feasible, and robust documentation standards.
  • Manage a compliance calendar in partnership with external advisors, ensuring all recurring obligations are tracked and supported.
  • Coordinate effectively with external accountants, auditors, tax providers, and legal counsel to meet multi-jurisdiction requirements.
  • Deliver clear, management-ready financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, and concise variance narratives.
  • Produce burn reporting and spend insights, identifying top vendors/categories, key drivers, and recommending savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting cadence, including annual budgets and rolling forecasts, with detailed budget vs. actual variance explanations.
  • Maintain comprehensive visibility across fiat accounts and crypto holdings, supporting payment operations with strong authorization and recordkeeping.
  • Generate regular cash/treasury reporting, including balances, upcoming obligations, runway snapshots, and operational risk flags.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of extensive experience in accounting, controllership, or finance operations roles, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of close and reporting processes.
  • Mandatory prior experience working within web3/crypto companies, exchanges, or operations with significant crypto exposure.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation, possessing IFRS/GAAP-level knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Proven experience with multi-entity accounting and operating effectively across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Expertise in crypto-native accounting, including managing wallets/exchanges, performing reconciliations, establishing audit trails, and implementing crypto-aware controls.
  • Exceptional documentation discipline and high integrity, ensuring all records are audit-ready by default.
  • Comfortable and effective operating in a lean, high-ownership environment, capable of both executing tasks and simultaneously improving systems.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial issues to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Xero for core accounting functions.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Cryptio for crypto accounting and reconciliation.
  • Bookkeeping and compliance experience across one or more of the following jurisdictions: US, SVG (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Panama, and UAE (Nice to Have).
  • Experience supporting audits, due diligence, or fundraising processes (Nice to Have).
  • Familiarity with crypto accounting tooling beyond Cryptio and/or blockchain analytics explorers (Nice to Have).
  • Basic SQL / data proficiency for financial analysis (Nice to Have).
