Job Description

GHGSat is at the forefront of global efforts to detect, measure, and monitor greenhouse gas emissions for industrial and governmental clients worldwide. Through our advanced proprietary satellites and airborne sensors, complemented by third-party data, we empower industrial emitters to gain profound insights, control, and significantly reduce their environmental footprint.

Our unique technology provides high-resolution, localized measurements of methane and carbon dioxide concentrations from space. This capability is crucial for accurately detecting, visualizing, and quantifying emission sources, contributing directly to a healthier planet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full application lifecycle, with a strong focus on developing new features and creating user value.
  • Develop, test, integrate, and deploy backend, frontend, and API solutions.
  • Ensure the maintenance and high availability of GHGSat's web services for both internal and external users.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, Quality Assurance (QA) specialists, and Product Owners to conceptualize and develop new features.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, shared with other team members, to ensure continuous service availability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and bringing to production scalable web applications that deliver real value to users.
  • Strong experience with Python and TypeScript in a web environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and deploying cloud services on AWS.
  • Experience deploying containerized applications using Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with databases and ETL systems, specifically PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices, CI/CD pipelines, and technical documentation.
  • Desired: Experience with Python web frameworks such as Django or FastAPI.
  • Desired: Experience with Python ETL tools like pandas, SQLAlchemy, or dbt.
  • Desired: Frontend development experience with React and Material UI.
  • Desired: Experience with deployment tools such as Argo in a Kubernetes environment.
  • Desired: Comfort and proficiency in a Linux environment.
  • Desired: Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, strong autonomy, and determination.
  • Desired: A keen interest in remote sensing technologies and the broader space domain.
  • Ability to obtain Canadian government security clearance.
