Job Description
Alpine Home Air Products is seeking a Systems Design Consultant to join our innovative team. This role focuses on guiding customers through complex HVAC decisions by understanding their unique needs and designing tailored system solutions.
You will engage in consultative conversations, asking thoughtful questions to grasp usage patterns, priorities, and constraints. Your responsibility is to design multiple system approaches, clearly articulate trade-offs, and empower customers to make confident choices, rather than closing sales.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive on turning complexity into clarity, enjoy reasoning through trade-offs, and find satisfaction in helping others make informed decisions. You will utilize modern tools, including AI, to enhance your thinking and learning processes.
Key responsibilities include leading customer consultations, designing intentional system options, explaining trade-offs related to comfort, efficiency, cost, and installation, and providing clear design summaries to the sales team.
We value curiosity, judgment, and clear thinking. Experience in consulting, systems design, technical advising, architecture, or engineering is beneficial, though a strong reasoning ability and learning mindset are paramount. HVAC experience is helpful but not required.
Success in this role is measured by customer understanding and confidence, clear design handoffs, and reduced downstream issues. You will be instrumental in helping customers make decisions driven by fit and understanding.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Lead scheduled, consultative conversations with customers (phone or video)
- Ask thoughtful questions to understand usage patterns, priorities, and constraints
- Design 2–3 intentional system approaches rather than a single “answer”
- Explain trade-offs between comfort, efficiency, cost, aesthetics, reliability, and installation complexity
- Recommend a best-fit solution based on customer values, not price alone
- Produce a clear, structured design summary for the Sales team to finalize the order
- Act as a calm, trusted guide through a complex, high-stakes decision
Qualifications
- Experience in consulting, systems design, technical advising, architecture, engineering, building science, or other analytical fields is a plus
- HVAC experience is helpful but not required
- Strong reasoning ability, communication skills, and a learning mindset matter more than industry background
- Tendency to ask why things work the way they do
- Ability to think in systems and trade-offs
- Enjoy reasoning through ambiguity and designing options
- Regularly use AI or modern tools to explore ideas, learn quickly, and improve thinking
- Ability to turn messy, real-world information into clear, understandable choices
- Enjoy learning new domains deeply and teaching yourself what you don’t yet know
- Build trust through listening, thoughtful questions, and clear explanations
- Prefer collaborative problem-solving over transactional interactions
- Care about the long-term success of the person you’re helping, not just the immediate outcome
Benefits & Perks
- Group health insurance plus health savings account
- 401k
- Paid time off
- Paid holidays
- Life insurance
- Short-term disability
- Paid educational and professional development training
