Job Description

Brannon Steel is seeking a skilled Overhead Crane Operator to join their manufacturing team in Brampton, Ontario. This role offers opportunities on both the afternoon and night shifts, with competitive hourly rates ranging from $25.11 to $37.29, plus attractive shift premiums.

In this position, you will be responsible for safely moving large steel parts and plates using 5-10 ton overhead cranes operated via RF remote. You will utilize various lifting attachments, including clamps, magnets, and pallet lifters, to efficiently manage materials. Key duties include performing receiving inspections, accurately identifying materials, and organizing the work area for maximum efficiency.

You will play a vital role in planning and executing material movement based on schedules and instructions, while maintaining clear communication with management and colleagues. Contributing to the accuracy of inventory and material location databases is also a core responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work safely at all times.
  • Move large steel parts and plate using 5-10 ton overhead cranes with RF remote.
  • Use clamps, magnets, pallet lifters, vacuums, and other below-the-hook attachments.
  • Locate materials by customer, thickness, size, grade, and other characteristics.
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers.
  • Perform all required receiving inspections and apply material ID.
  • Organize equipment, materials, time, and work area for maximum efficiency.
  • Plan and carry out material movement based on schedules and instructions.
  • Maintain communication with management and co-workers regarding material movement requirements.
  • Contribute to the accuracy and maintenance of inventory and material location databases.

Qualifications

  • Strong overhead crane operator experience.
  • Dedication to safe material handling practices.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with others.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Able to count large quantities and perform basic math.
  • Able to speak, read, write, and understand English at a conversational level.
  • Able to work an afternoon shift (Mon-Fri, 3:00PM - 11:00PM) OR a night shift (Sun-Thurs, 11:00PM - 7:00AM).
