Job Description
Blue Rose Research is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Data Scientist specializing in Machine Learning to join our dynamic forecasting team. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to building cutting-edge products that provide critical insights to leading progressive organizations across the country, directly influencing short- and long-term strategic decisions.
You will own the complete modeling lifecycle, from transforming complex political data into actionable insights to developing and deploying advanced predictive models. Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Build and optimize end-to-end modeling pipelines, enhancing reliability, data quality checks, and model diagnostics.
- Develop and refine machine learning models, perform feature engineering, and contribute innovative ideas to core data science methodologies.
- Translate complex model outputs into clear, actionable strategic guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Develop deep subject matter context and rigorously interrogate data to distinguish genuine signals from potential anomalies.
- Collaborate with engineers, statisticians, and political analysts to scope technical requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data science and/or machine learning with applied statistics and predictive modeling, or equivalent experience from a PhD program.
- Demonstrated strong instincts in evaluating model performance and diagnosing/debugging modeling issues.
- Proficient Python programmer capable of navigating and extending existing codebases.
- Strong experience in data wrangling, ideally with SQL and relational databases.
- Ability to thrive in multi-disciplinary teams and effectively partner with less technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity and willingness to develop domain knowledge within the progressive political ecosystem.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in a remote work setting.
- A collaborative and kind team player who contributes positively to the work environment.
