Job Description

BillionToOne is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager of EMR Integrations and Interoperability to lead the strategic direction and operational execution of our EMR connectivity initiatives. This role is crucial for building a robust EMR function, developing a high-performing team, and standardizing integration processes to ensure reliable, compliant, and scalable solutions that enhance provider workflows and drive business growth.

You will be responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise EMR interoperability strategy, establishing operational models and standards for integration delivery, and creating a scalable roadmap to increase throughput while reducing implementation times. Developing executive-level metrics for EMR performance, leading end-to-end integration execution, and managing the intake and prioritization of new requests will be key aspects of this role. Furthermore, you will ensure the reliability of order and result transmissions, oversee HL7/FHIR connectivity, and manage vendor relationships to optimize integration capabilities and customer experience.

This position requires strong cross-functional leadership, serving as the primary point of contact for EMR interoperability across various departments. You will partner with Sales and Customer Success for smooth onboarding and collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence platform investments that enhance scalability and tooling. Building and mentoring a high-performing EMR team, establishing clear career paths, and driving continuous improvement will be essential for scaling operations and maintaining quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute BillionToOne’s enterprise EMR interoperability strategy.
  • Establish the operating model, standards, and processes for EMR delivery.
  • Build a scalable roadmap to increase integration throughput and reduce time-to-go-live.
  • Develop executive-level metrics and reporting for EMR performance.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of EMR integrations, ensuring predictable delivery.
  • Own intake and prioritization of new integration requests.
  • Standardize project governance across integrations.
  • Drive adoption of repeatable integration patterns to scale delivery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transmission of orders and results.
  • Oversee HL7/FHIR connectivity via Redox and other vendors.
  • Own triage and resolution processes for integration issues.
  • Reduce manual touchpoints through automation and continuous process improvement.
  • Manage strategic relationships with EMR vendors and integration partners.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor performance against SLAs.
  • Partner directly with customer hospital/clinic IT teams to accelerate implementation.
  • Serve as the executive point of contact for EMR interoperability across IT, Engineering, Product, Sales, Legal, and CS.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure smooth onboarding.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence platform investments.
  • Ensure documentation, playbooks, and training are consistently maintained and adopted.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing EMR team.
  • Establish clear roles, career paths, performance expectations, and operating rhythms.
  • Drive continuous improvement across people, process, and technology.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in EMR integrations, interoperability, healthcare IT, lab systems, or related domains.
  • 5+ years leading teams and scaling cross-functional programs.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with HL7 v2, FHIR, and integration engines/platforms (e.g., Redox, Mirth, etc.).
  • Proven track record delivering and scaling multiple EMR integrations (Epic Aura, Cerner/Oracle, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, etc.) with measurable operational and business impact.
  • Strong program management skills: prioritization, governance, stakeholder communication, risk management, and execution at scale.
  • Experience partnering with Engineering/Product teams on integration tooling, automation, monitoring, and scalability improvements.
  • Strong understanding of privacy/security requirements in healthcare (HIPAA; preferred familiarity with SOC 2 and audit-ready processes).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred (Master’s a plus).
