Job Description

Daystar Power Group is seeking a dedicated Solar Panel Maintenance Supervisor to join our growing team in Kano. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of our solar power systems across various sites.

You will be responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, executing preventative maintenance schedules, and ensuring all operations adhere to strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. Your efforts will directly contribute to maximizing asset performance and ensuring continuous energy supply for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute Solar System Preventative Maintenance (SSPM) activities for assigned solar power systems, ensuring strict adherence to HSE procedures.
  • Perform periodic cleaning of solar PV modules, inspect solar mounting structures, and conduct cable inspections as per the annual maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain Array Junction Boxes (AJBs) and conduct thorough PV system checks.
  • Document maintenance activities by taking and archiving 'before and after' pictures of solar panel arrays.
  • Plan, prepare, and manage weekly maintenance schedules for team members and ensure the annual maintenance schedule for solar plants is strictly followed.
  • Provide weekly reports on all executed maintenance activities.
  • Enforce HSE compliance within the team, ensuring all members and contractors have required certifications and use mandatory PPE.
  • Liaise with QHSE officers for RAMS documents and report all safety incidents and near-misses.
  • Ensure safety guidelines, especially when working at heights, are strictly adhered to.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in Electrical Engineering roles, preferably in the renewable energy or power industry, with experience in installing and/or maintaining solar systems.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, high commitment, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Passionate about quality of workmanship.
  • Good communication skills and ability to lead and work effectively in teams.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize competing demands.
  • Passion for renewable energy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • HSE certification is considered an advantage.
