Job Description

Join British American Tobacco (BAT) as a Merchandiser and play a crucial role in executing our route-to-market strategy across Nigeria.

In this dynamic position, you will be instrumental in ensuring our products are readily available, prominently displayed, and competitively priced within your assigned territory. You will actively identify new market opportunities and contribute to the development and deployment of impactful trade programs.

Your responsibilities will include executing marketing activities, acting as a 'Tactical Response Team' member to address market situations, and achieving volume and distribution targets through direct selling and customer management. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and efficient execution of marketing activities in the defined territory.
  • Serve as part of a 'Tactical Response Team' to address market situations and business needs.
  • Execute basic Trade Marketing & Distribution (TM&D) activities in outlets to meet company objectives (visibility, availability, freshness, consumer contacting).
  • Achieve volume and distribution targets through direct selling, management of rural wholesale customers, and monitoring of van sales.
  • Improve the company’s corporate image by operating at the highest business ethics, environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Provide Trade Marketing support for the DSS rep attached to support rural wholesale business expansion.
  • Engage local government officials, transport/traffic agencies, and other stakeholders to avoid disruption of BAT operations in the rural territory.
  • Support Van Reps to achieve high performance by developing new routes and providing TM&D support to existing outlets.

Qualifications

  • OND/HND degree from any reputable polytechnic.
  • Basic Selling, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of developing and maintaining relationships with consumers, retailers, and semi-wholesalers.
  • Knowledge of redistribution concepts, business reporting, and communication.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Driving Skills.
  • Knowledge of rural towns and road networks is desirable.
  • Understanding of the local languages in the territory is a plus.
