Job Description

Hyprops Nigeria Limited is seeking a skilled and experienced Workshop Operations Lead to join our dedicated team in Lekki, Lagos. This pivotal role involves supporting the Head of Unit in the daily operations and maintenance of our machine tools, ensuring the production of high-precision components and parts that meet stringent technical specifications.

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily machining activities to align with project and client delivery schedules. This includes effectively allocating machines, tools, and personnel based on priority and capacity. A key aspect of your role will be to monitor machine utilization, downtime, and productivity KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed to optimize performance.

Furthermore, you will interface with our Business Development and Projects teams to ensure incoming work is aligned with available capacity and realistic delivery timelines. You will lead and supervise the operation of CNC lathes, milling, drilling, and grinding machines, and may be required to operate machines yourself. This involves supervising the fabrication, repair, or modification of parts according to technical drawings, blueprints, or OEM standards, and performing precision measurements to verify conformance.

Ensuring the timely completion of machine tasks to meet client and production deadlines is paramount. You will also execute or supervise API/OCTG threading, re-cutting, and repair of casing, tubing, and premium connections. Maintaining a clean and organized workshop area in line with safety standards, and coordinating planned preventive maintenance to minimize unplanned machine downtime are also critical responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily machining activities to meet project and client delivery schedules.
  • Allocate machines, tools, and personnel to jobs based on priority and capacity.
  • Monitor machine utilisation, downtime, and productivity KPIs and implement corrective actions.
  • Interface with Business Development and Projects to align incoming work with available capacity and realistic delivery dates.
  • Lead and supervise the operation of CNC lathes, milling, drilling and grinding machines (and operate machines where required).
  • Supervise the fabrication, repair, or modification of parts according to technical drawings, blueprints, or OEM standards.
  • Perform precision measurements to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure timely completion of machine tasks to meet client and production deadlines.
  • Execute or supervise API/OCTG threading, re-cutting, and repair of casing, tubing, and premium connections.
  • Ensure routine inspection, maintenance and calibration of machines, tools and gauges.
  • Identify faults and carry out minor repairs; escalate complex issues to the OEM.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop area in line with safety standards.
  • Coordinate planned preventive maintenance to minimize unplanned machine downtime.

Qualifications

  • A Minimum of OND / Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or any related field from a recognized tertiary Institution.
  • Extensive practical machining/OCTG experience and proven supervisory track record.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, measurement tools, blueprint reading, and OEM specifications.
