Job Description

Moniepoint is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to lead our credit operations in Katsina. This role is instrumental in overseeing the loan portfolio, managing a team of Field Credit Officers, and ensuring the health and growth of our lending business within the state.

You will be responsible for setting performance targets, implementing effective credit risk management strategies, and driving the expansion of our loan products. This position requires close collaboration with various departments, including Products, Risk, and Operations, to maintain stringent credit policies and ensure the seamless disbursement and repayment of loans.

Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring Field Credit Officers, developing strategies for portfolio growth, and conducting thorough credit risk assessments. You will also ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, preparing regular performance reports for senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide Field Credit Officers within the assigned state.
  • Set clear performance goals and objectives for the team, aligning with company targets.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow a robust and profitable loan portfolio.
  • Monitor and analyze overall portfolio performance, including approvals, disbursements, and repayments.
  • Identify trends and potential risks, taking proactive measures to mitigate issues.
  • Ensure adherence to the organization’s credit policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve loan applications, providing final credit decisions where necessary.
  • Conduct periodic credit risk assessments and collaborate on enhancing credit evaluation frameworks.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Prepare and present regular portfolio performance reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless loan disbursement and servicing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business clients and community stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve escalated customer issues.
  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies, recommending system and process enhancements.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices, market trends, and competitor activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in lending, credit, or portfolio management.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrable experience in credit risk analysis and financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in the financial sector.
  • Proven track record in managing and growing a loan portfolio in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be resident in the state of responsibility (Katsina).
