Job Description

Sundry Group is seeking a skilled Buyer to join its dynamic Supply Chain team. This role is essential for planning, sourcing, and procuring products that not only delight customers but also drive significant profitability.

As a Buyer, you will be instrumental in selecting suppliers, negotiating favorable contract terms, and ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality merchandise that meets Sundry Markets' stringent specifications. Key Responsibilities

  • Issue purchase orders and ensure suppliers comply with Sundry Markets' product specifications, guaranteeing 100% availability of listed merchandise.
  • Source potential vendors, negotiate contract terms to maximize sales and profits, and develop strategic vendor relationships for future business needs while maintaining strong ties with existing suppliers.
  • Monitor current sales trends, assess their impact on business requirements, and conduct material price surveys in collaboration with the Price Analyst.
  • Liaise with Department Managers to align supply with demand and collaborate with supervisory Buyers and the Head of Supply Chain Management on forecasting models.
  • Analyze consumer buying patterns, predict future trends, and react to changes in demand and logistics, preparing reports and forecasting material usage.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce waste and increase quantity yield.
  • Source local produce from farms with specified capacity to support business needs and community engagement.
  • Participate in monthly stock count exercises to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Train and mentor junior staff within the buying team.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement Officer, or in a similar role within the retail sector (FMCG experience is preferred).
  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated experience in contract management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret consumer data and market trends effectively.
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain processes, inventory management, and forecasting techniques.
  • Experience sourcing from local farms or fresh produce suppliers is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for building vendor relationships and internal collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior team members.
