Job Description

Blueground is redefining urban living by providing a seamless platform for people to live and work globally. We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting & Reporting Manager to oversee the financial integrity and statutory compliance of our UAE entity.

In this pivotal role, you will manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring all transactions adhere to IFRS and UAE GAAP. You will be responsible for driving the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing accurate statutory financial statements, and managing all tax and regulatory filings, including VAT and corporate tax.

This is a hands-on position where you will also act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and manage local banking relationships. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately, completely, and in accordance with IFRS and UAE GAAP.
  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll postings, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany entries.
  • Perform and review all balance sheet reconciliations every month.
  • Drive month end closing, including journal entry preparation and review, trial balance sign-off, and submission of management accounts to Group within agreed timelines.
  • Support the year-end close process and coordinate all preparatory work ahead of the statutory audit.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements in compliance with local GAAP and IFRS, including all required disclosures and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain technical accounting positions on key areas including lease accounting (IFRS 16), revenue recognition (IFRS 15), and fixed assets.
  • Ensure Group reporting submissions are accurate, complete, and reconciled to local books at all times.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the external auditors, managing the audit process end-to-end from planning through to sign-off.
  • Act as the statutory representative of Blueground in the UAE, including signatory authority on regulatory filings, banking documentation, account payable cheques and government submissions.
  • Prepare and file UAE VAT returns accurately and on time, maintaining full supporting documentation.
  • Manage corporate tax (CT) compliance for the UAE entity, including calculations, filings, and correspondence with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
  • Ensure compliance with economic substance regulations and any other applicable UAE regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee corporate secretarial matters for the UAE entity in coordination with legal counsel.
  • Maintain local banking relationships.
  • Handle intercompany settlement and reconciliation in coordination with the Group treasury function.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, with a strong track record in general ledger management, statutory reporting, and financial close.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) — required.
  • Prior experience preparing statutory accounts and managing external audits independently.
  • Solid working knowledge of UAE VAT and corporate tax compliance.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment; prior UAE or GCC accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep technical accounting knowledge with strong command of IFRS.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in everything from journal entries to statutory disclosures.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central is a nice-to-have) and advanced Excel.
  • Organised and process-driven, with the ability to manage multiple close deadlines simultaneously.
  • Clear written and verbal communicator, able to document accounting positions and liaise with auditors and regulators.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
