Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and oversee critical financial operations. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, maintaining compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and local tax laws, and upholding our commitment to ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards.
Your responsibilities will include managing the general ledger, performing reconciliations, and ensuring timely month-end and year-end closings. You will play a key role in project budget monitoring, cost control, and profitability analysis, providing vital financial insights to project managers. Furthermore, you will coordinate internal and external audits, manage accounts payable and receivable, and prepare tax computations.
This position also involves generating comprehensive financial reports and dashboards for management, supporting procurement processes, and ensuring adherence to company financial policies and ISO documentation standards. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior accounting staff and participate in financial risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
- Manage general ledger accounts, reconcile balances, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Monitor project budgets and costs, track variances, and provide financial insights to project managers.
- Develop and maintain cost control systems, ensuring alignment with ISO documentation standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare schedules, and ensure readiness for ISO and statutory audits.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accurate records.
- Prepare tax computations and filings, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Generate financial reports and dashboards for management review, including cash flow, profitability, and cost-to-completion analysis.
- Support procurement and contract teams with financial evaluations and payment schedules.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, SOPs, and ISO standards for document control and record retention.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Participate in risk assessments, identifying financial risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- ACA/ACCA certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in accounting, preferably in construction or project-based environments.
- Second degree (Master’s or MBA) is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
