Job Description

The Tony Elumelu Foundation is seeking a dedicated Alumni & Mentorship Officer to spearhead our vital alumni engagement and mentorship initiatives. In this role, you will be instrumental in nurturing our network of African entrepreneurs, ensuring they receive robust support, valuable connections, and expert guidance to scale their businesses effectively. You will also play a key role in facilitating our mentorship programs, fostering strong mentor-mentee relationships, and guaranteeing impactful experiences that drive growth, sustainability, and positive social impact across the continent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update a comprehensive alumni database for all 54 African countries, capturing personal details, business metrics, and engagement history.
  • Track key performance indicators such as revenue growth, job creation, social impact, and funding secured to evaluate alumni progress and identify opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit and vet high-caliber mentors, including corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
  • Execute the Alumni Engagement Strategy to promote connectivity, pride, and active participation within the alumni network.
  • Identify and highlight successful alumni through newsletters, brand campaigns, and storytelling initiatives.
  • Coordinate alumni involvement in foundation events, regional meetups, and country-specific activities.
  • Plan, organize, and deliver impactful virtual and in-person alumni and mentorship events, such as workshops, masterclasses, and networking sessions.
  • Design and implement targeted initiatives to address alumni business needs, including growth strategies, investor readiness, and market access.
  • Engage with Hub Leads across African countries and Nigerian states through regular check-ins and performance reviews.
  • Support the election process for Hub Leads, monitor their performance, and assist with local alumni engagement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field; a Master's degree is a significant advantage.
  • 4 to 7 years of progressive experience in program management, alumni relations, or mentorship coordination, preferably within the entrepreneurship or development sectors.
  • A strong understanding of the African entrepreneurial landscape and the dynamics of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing entrepreneurship and mentorship programs or networks is highly desirable.
