We are seeking a diligent and analytical Credit Officer to join our esteemed financial institution.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients, ensuring our lending practices align with company risk appetite and regulatory mandates. Your expertise will be crucial in balancing financial risk with strategic business development.
Key respons responsibilities include conducting thorough credit analyses, performing in-depth financial statement evaluations, and managing the loan application process from start to finish. You will also monitor existing client repayment behaviors and ensure strict compliance with all relevant lending laws and internal policies.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough credit analysis of individuals and businesses by evaluating financial history, credit scores, and legal documentation.
- Perform in-depth financial statement analysis, including balance sheets, P&L statements, and cash flow reports to determine repayment capacity.
- Apply risk-grading models and calculate key financial ratios, such as debt-to-income and debt-service coverage.
- Manage the application process from initial interview through to approval or rejection recommendations based on company policy.
- Track the repayment behavior of existing clients to identify and report early warning signs of default or financial distress.
- Ensure all credit activities comply with local lending laws, AML/KYC requirements, and internal financial policies.
- Work closely with the collections department to develop restructure plans for delinquent accounts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business discipline.
- Chartered Accountant (ICAN) is mandatory.
- Additional certifications like Certified Credit Professional (CCP) or CFA are an added advantage.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in credit analysis and risk management, preferably within financial services or capital markets.
- Proficiency in loan management systems (ERP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian lending regulations and reporting requirements.
- Exceptional precision in analyzing data and identifying financial "red flags".
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- High ethical standards and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
