In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing Moniepoint's loan recovery strategy, with the ultimate goal of ensuring minimal credit losses. You will achieve this by optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the recovery unit, developing and implementing innovative recovery strategies, and building a high-performing recovery organization. A data-driven approach will be essential for evaluating both strategies and personnel, alongside engaging with key external stakeholders like law enforcement and legal firms to maximize the recovery of delinquent and non-performing loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive recovery strategies to significantly reduce non-performing loans and bad debt provisions.
  • Design the recovery organization structure and supervise the hiring process to attract top recovery talent.
  • Optimize the effectiveness of the recovery team by setting clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Continuously provide training to the recovery network, ensuring alignment with established recovery strategies and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external partners, including law enforcement agencies and legal firms.
  • Report regularly on recovery performance and provide insightful analysis to senior management.
  • Work closely with legal teams on litigation and enforcement proceedings related to loan recovery.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments such as credit, legal, risk, and finance to align and optimize recovery efforts.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a B.Sc/H.ND in any business-related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in credit recovery, debt collection, or risk management within the banking sector in Nigeria.
  • Possession of a strong network of legal and law enforcement contacts across the country.
  • Proven experience in leading a recovery team and managing high-value non-performing loans.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling recovery operations in each of the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
