Job Description

Second Nature is at the forefront of addressing the UK's obesity crisis, a significant health challenge impacting millions. We are expanding our specialist weight management services to increase access to effective treatment and improve patient outcomes.

We are seeking a dedicated Bank Assessment Specialist to join our multi-disciplinary team (MDT). This flexible, part-time role is ideal for professionals looking to contribute to a fast-paced, innovative digital healthcare startup while managing their own schedule.

In this role, you will conduct comprehensive patient assessments via video call, gathering essential information to determine the most appropriate intervention pathways. You will work collaboratively with a team of doctors, dietitians, psychologists, and physical activity specialists, contributing your expertise to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently assess patients for intervention pathways within the specialist weight management service.
  • Create individual formulations based on initial screening and assessment, drawing on clinical expertise, psychological theory, current research, and relevant guidelines (e.g., NICE).
  • Attend regular MDT and supervision meetings to discuss assessments.
  • Appropriately manage clinical risk (e.g., safeguarding concerns) during assessments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information in line with the Data Protection Act and participant confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner OR Qualified HCPC-registered Dietitian OR AfN-registered Nutritionist.
  • Experience working in a weight management, bariatric, eating disorder, or mental health setting.
  • Experience conducting initial assessments and consultations to determine intervention pathway, including risk assessments for suicidal ideation/self-harm.
  • Solid understanding of obesity as a condition and the issues many people living with obesity face, including weight stigma.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with a doctor-led disciplinary team (MDT) to ensure patients are correctly assessed and allocated to intervention pathways.
  • Dynamic and driven to work in an innovative digital healthcare service, adapting to the needs of a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Confident in using technology for patient care, including recording and reviewing patient notes.
