Job Description
Packt is seeking a skilled Project Manager to join our Operations team and drive the successful delivery of technical learning content. This role is crucial for managing project timelines, allocating resources, and ensuring the publication of high-quality books and learning materials without compromising on quality.
You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing project schedules, adapting to challenges and opportunities to ensure timely publication. Your work will involve managing the end-to-end delivery of book projects, collaborating closely with the Program Manager to maintain pipeline health and meet publication deadlines.
This position offers a unique opportunity to nurture author and technical reviewer relationships, fostering an environment that balances creative freedom with rigorous project management. Your strategic oversight will ensure project deliverables align with business objectives, driving continuous improvement in our project management processes to meet evolving market demands.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Manage title performance, including publishing timelines, milestones, author satisfaction, and technical reviewer satisfaction.
- Ensure projects meet the Time to Market deadlines set by Portfolio Directors.
- Enhance author and technical reviewer satisfaction and refine their experience while adhering to publishing schedules and maximizing commercial outcomes.
- Implement advanced project management methodologies to enhance productivity and project timelines.
- Regularly evaluate project processes to identify risks and streamline publications, ensuring high standards of quality are met consistently.
- Drive and execute strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, including authors, publishing peers, and external collaborators, ensuring seamless communication and project coherence.
- Problem-solve, manage, and mitigate risks, when necessary, to keep authors, technical reviewers, and book teams on schedule.
- Maintain the integrity of process and good practice at each stage in the publishing project.
- Manage or refer conflicts between deadlines, processes, and quality, where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any field; technical degrees are preferable.
- More than 3 years of experience in project management, ideally within the publishing sector or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and technological skills, adept at using modern project management tools and methodologies.
- Strong mentoring and communication capabilities.
- Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex, large-scale projects with a strategic mindset towards problem-solving and project success.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources efficiently, and meet deadlines to maintain productivity and achieve goals.
- Strong analytical skills with the capacity to pivot strategy based on project demands and market changes, maintaining project alignment with broader business goals.
- Ability to maintain long-standing successful relations with authors and reviewers to develop high-quality content.
- Expertise in handling conflicts between stakeholders.
