We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented NYSC Legal Intern to join our Legal and Compliance team in Lagos. This role offers invaluable hands-on experience in private equity, private credit, impact investing, and regulatory compliance within a dynamic investment environment. You will work closely with the Legal/Compliance Manager, providing essential support for fund operations and investment activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with legal research on Nigerian and cross-border regulatory, corporate, and investment-related matters.
  • Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Assist in tracking regulatory filings, statutory deadlines, and compliance obligations.
  • Help prepare internal memos, presentations, and reports on legal and compliance matters.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Legal/Compliance function.
  • Assist with the review, drafting, and organization of legal documents, including NDAs, contracts, and investment documents.
  • Support due diligence exercises by reviewing reports and collaborating with external counsel.
  • Maintain and update legal and transaction data rooms.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including board materials and statutory filings.
  • Support coordination with external counsel, regulators, and service providers.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of legal and compliance records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB or JD) from an accredited institution with a minimum of Second-Class Honours, Upper Division (2:1).
  • Currently undertaking NYSC.
  • Completion of Law School.
  • Strong interest in corporate law, private equity, investment funds, or regulatory compliance.
  • Basic legal research and drafting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and able to work independently with supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
