Job Description
We are an established footwear manufacturing company actively seeking a highly experienced professional to join our senior management team as the Senior Legal, Compliance & Facilities Officer. This unique and critical role combines leadership in in-house legal and regulatory compliance with comprehensive oversight of our warehouse facilities, infrastructure, and occupational safety operations.
Based in Lagos, Nigeria, the successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the organization. You will be responsible for managing legal risks, ensuring stringent regulatory compliance, and skillfully negotiating key contracts. Furthermore, you will guarantee that all company facilities—including production floors, utilities, and administrative buildings—operate safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with industry standards.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Manage legal risk across the organization.
- Ensure comprehensive regulatory compliance with all relevant laws and standards.
- Negotiate key contracts and agreements.
- Oversee warehouse facilities, infrastructure, and occupational safety operations.
- Guarantee that all facilities, including production floors, utilities, and administrative buildings, function safely, efficiently, and in alignment with industry standards.
- Manage external counsel, regulatory agencies, and technical vendors.
- Anticipate and mitigate operational and reputational risks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) with BL qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years post-call experience, including significant corporate/commercial legal exposure.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, FMCG, or similar environments is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in compliance management, contract law, and regulatory advisory.
- Prior exposure to managing facilities, production plants, or technical operations will be an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of building standards, labour laws, and environmental compliance requirements relevant to a manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing external counsel, regulatory agencies, and technical vendors.
- Strong analytical, risk management, and problem-solving orientation.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams (legal, administrative, technical, and operations).
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High level of professional integrity, sound judgment, and discretion.
- Comfortable working effectively in a production-driven, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively anticipate operational and reputational risks.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
