Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Akwa Ibom, contributing to the efficient operation of industrial plants.

This role is essential for performing routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

You will be responsible for identifying and repairing mechanical faults, installing new equipment, and conducting inspections to maintain asset integrity.

Adherence to plant HSE policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE and permit-to-work systems, is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, filters, blowers, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Lubricate moving parts, replace worn components, and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Identify mechanical faults such as leaks, vibrations, unusual noise, and overheating.
  • Install new mechanical equipment and components as required.
  • Assist in minimizing plant downtime through quick response to breakdowns.
  • Inspect pipelines, valves, tanks, and structures for wear, corrosion, and damage.
  • Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities to supervisors.
  • Follow plant HSE policies and procedures, ensuring safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Record maintenance work, repairs, and inspections, and assist in preparing maintenance logs and reports.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the mechanical workshop and plant areas.

Qualifications

  • Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Fitter trade.
  • 8–10 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance in industrial plants, preferably water treatment or utilities.
  • Expert knowledge in Bearing replacement and alignment.
  • Skilled in pumps, valves, motors & gearboxes maintenance.
  • Proven ability and experience in Pipe fitting and flange works.
  • Basic knowledge of Preventive & breakdown maintenance.
  • Proven ability and familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Good basic understanding and awareness of industrial safety & permit systems.
