Job Description
Thomas Adewumi University is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselling Psychologist to enhance our Student Support Team. This vital role within the Directorate of Student Care Services is designed to champion the mental health, emotional well-being, and overall personal development of our student body.
As a Counselling Psychologist, you will be instrumental in providing essential psychological support, expert guidance, and effective counselling services. Your contributions will directly foster student success and promote their holistic growth within our nurturing academic environment. Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counselling to students facing personal, academic, or emotional challenges.
- Develop and implement mental health promotion programs and workshops.
- Conduct psychological assessments and provide diagnostic evaluations.
- Offer crisis intervention and support to students in distress.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student well-being.
- Maintain confidential student records and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of student support services.
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related field.
- Professional licensure or certification as a Psychologist or Counsellor.
- Proven experience in providing counselling services, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of student development and mental health issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of ethical principles and best practices in psychology.
