Job Description

The World Food Programme is seeking a diligent Monitoring Assistant to join our team in Maiduguri, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will conduct regular field visits to ensure that food, cash, and livelihood assistance accurately reaches intended beneficiaries according to program guidelines.

Your responsibilities will include collecting precise data through interviews and observations, assessing partner performance, and identifying any challenges that may impede delivery. You will meticulously document your findings in clear reports, highlighting issues that require attention and proposing solutions for program enhancement.

By actively engaging with community leaders, beneficiaries, and partners, you will champion accountability, uphold program quality, and facilitate timely decision-making to strengthen the effectiveness of our assistance packages. Key Responsibilities

  • Verify the planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, reporting issues or discrepancies to the supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Maintain information records and monitoring plan documentation, such as commodity movement records and program checklists.
  • Collate assistance program data in accordance with clear direction to support program reviews and decision-making.
  • Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments for program improvement.
  • Receive and collate comments and feedback from cooperating partners and beneficiaries to identify programmatic issues.
  • Provide guidance to cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools, and methods.
  • Prepare field mission reports to document program implementation.
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Economics, Demography, Agriculture, Food Security, Nutrition, or any other related courses.
  • Four or more years of progressively responsible work experience in relative roles.
  • Fluency (level C) in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language (e.g., Hausa, Kanuri, Babur/Bura, Marghi, Shuwa Arab).
