Job Description

NineTwoThree AI Studio is seeking an AI Product Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on building, shipping, and supporting AI-powered tools and automations for clients, blending product thinking with AI engineering expertise.

You will work with modern AI development tools and platforms to deliver end-to-end solutions. The position involves translating complex problems into clear solutions, ideating and building functional systems, and explaining their mechanics. You will have direct interaction with mentors and enjoy autonomy, with a focus on understanding the 'why' behind the work and the broader business context.

The role is ideal for someone who thrives on seeing projects through from conception to completion and enjoys client-facing responsibilities. It is less suited for those who prefer deep coding with minimal stakeholder contact or those seeking highly structured, predictable work environments, as this department is actively shaping its operational model.

Key responsibilities include contributing to strategy and growth by surfacing new approaches and tools, conducting continuous research and development on new AI technologies, and helping to build out the department's operating model. You will also be involved in solutions engineering and client delivery, supporting scoping, shaping, and technical feasibility assessments, and building client demos.

Technical execution involves project setup, system and process design, agentic design, hands-on building with Python and AI tools, prompt engineering, data engineering, and deployment in collaboration with the DevOps team. You will also manage project tracking, client communication, code reviews, quality assurance, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Building, shipping, and supporting AI-powered tools and automations for clients.
Translating complex, ambiguous problems into clear, actionable solutions.
Ideating, building, and shipping functional AI systems, and explaining their functionality.
Contributing to the department's knowledge base and operating models with new approaches and tools.
Conducting research and development on new AI tools, models, and frameworks.
Helping to shape the department's scaling processes, including project templates and runbooks.
Supporting the scoping, shaping, and solutioning of new client engagements.
Evaluating technical feasibility of AI solutions based on client data, systems, and APIs.
Building working demos for prospective clients.
Contributing technical detail to proposals and statements of work.
Assisting client teams in understanding and using delivered systems.
Setting up new client projects, environments, and tooling.
Designing the architecture of individual projects.
Designing end-to-end systems, considering data flow, AI components, human interaction, and output.
Making decisions on agentic approaches versus deterministic pipelines versus human-in-the-loop steps.
Writing code using AI development tools, primarily with a Python-first stack.
Designing and refining prompts, system instructions, and model choices.
Cleaning, structuring, and processing client data for AI layers.
Deploying services to client cloud accounts following established standards.
Testing AI outputs against real client data before go-live.
Working from the department's project tracking board.
Communicating technical aspects in client meetings.
Submitting clean Pull Requests and engaging in code reviews.
Testing AI outputs for failure modes and edge cases.
Completing delivery checklists, including documentation and handover.
Using the department's tooling for tasks, capture, time tracking, and communication.
Flowing ideas, improvements, and concerns through the Practice Lead.
Contributing to the department's operating model and shared framework.

Qualifications

Experience in building, shipping, and supporting AI-powered tools and automations.
Ability to frame complex, ambiguous problems and work through them to clear solutions.
Enjoyment of ideating, building, and seeing things ship.
Preference for direct interaction with a mentor over distant management.
Desire for autonomy and trust.
Understanding of why something is being built, not just what to build.
Ability to see the whole picture – how a project connects to a client's business, operations, and an emerging practice.
Experience in client delivery, not solely deep coding.
Comfort with a dynamic work environment where processes are being shaped.
Proficiency in AI development tools.
Experience with Python-first stack, lightweight web frameworks (FastAPI, Gradio), and serverless runtimes (AWS Lambda).
Experience with prompt engineering and model selection.
Experience with data engineering, including cleaning and structuring data.
Familiarity with DevOps practices for deployment.
Experience with project tracking tools (e.g., Monday.com).
Strong client communication skills.
Experience with code review processes.
Commitment to quality assurance and testing.
Ability to complete delivery checklists and documentation.
Familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g., Notion, Slack).
