Job Description

As a Trading Operator, you will be instrumental in coordinating the entire lifecycle of trading activities, from initial deal inception through to final settlement. You will collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including traders, counterparties, service providers, and internal departments, to navigate and resolve operational challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the operational execution of trading activities from deal inception through to final settlement.
  • Coordinate logistics for loading and discharging operations by sea and/or overland.
  • Follow up on vessels and optimize rotations, loading plans, and operational timelines.
  • Liaise with traders, counterparties, service providers, inspectors, shipping teams, and internal support functions.
  • Manage storage and processing contracts, including quantities, qualities, customs, and financial exposure.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the management of financial guarantees in collaboration with the Credit department.
  • Monitor costs related to transactions and communicate operational data impacting trading results.
  • Review the feasibility of trading negotiations and support the formalization of commercial contracts.
  • Follow claims, insurance matters, and damage reports when required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal procedures, HSE standards, and business integrity rules.
  • Support invoicing, payment follow-up, and recovery processes where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • First experience in a fast-paced, international environment is ideal.
  • An Engineering background, particularly in Chemical, Process, Petroleum, or Energy Engineering, is a strong advantage.
  • Strong interest in energy, commodities, trading, refining, or shipping.
  • Good understanding of refinery operations, refining processes, and product manufacturing units.
  • Knowledge of petroleum product specifications, refinery yields, and supply chain constraints is a strong asset.
  • Rigorous, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under time pressure.
  • Ability to solve problems and coordinate with many different stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and risk awareness across the supply chain.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-pressure environment where priorities can evolve quickly.
  • Team spirit, flexibility, and a strong sense of commitment.
  • Proactive, curious, and willing to learn.
  • Fluent in English and French; any additional language is a plus.
  • Comfortable with IT tools and data-driven ways of working.
