Job Description
Ember, a globally-focused nonprofit organization, is seeking a Finance Manager to provide crucial support for a 6-month period, covering sickness leave with a possibility for extension.
This role is integral to our finance team, focusing on financial management, reporting, and compliance functions. You will contribute to our mission of advancing the global energy transition.
The position requires a strong understanding of UK accounting standards and nonprofit financial management, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic, international setting.
Key responsibilities include overseeing month-end closing, managing payment processes, handling grant reporting and internal allocations, and ensuring robust cash flow management and treasury operations. You will also be responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting departmental budgeting and control.

- Collaboration: supporting other departments with team-based budgets and aligning with organisational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the finance function of at least two different non-profit organisations headquartered in the UK
- Experience in financial reporting for grant reporting and internal allocation
- Passionate about the climate movement and/or the global energy transition
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Experience in using AI for finance (nice to have)
- Experience in managing team-based P&L and budgeting process (nice to have)
- Experience in Xero (nice to have)
- Experience with the Google Suite, especially Google Spreadsheet (nice to have)
- Other language skills (especially Asian ones and Spanish) (nice to have)

- Salary: £60,000-65,000 FTE p.a. (£5,000-5,500/per month for 100% full time)
- Contract: 6-month contract with the possibility to extend
- Working hours can be flexible between 60% part-time and full-time (100%)
