Job Description

Resource Innovations is actively seeking a highly skilled Lead Java Software Engineer to join our expanding Software as a Service (SaaS) team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a hands-on technical leader, driving the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge cloud-based enterprise software. This software is critical for leading energy organizations, enabling them to navigate increasingly complex, connected challenges in the clean energy sector.

We are looking for passionate individuals who are committed to product craftsmanship and eager to contribute to solutions that create a tangible impact on the world. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility of remote work while requiring occasional in-person meetings. Candidates should reside in one of the following metro areas: San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; Phoenix, AZ; Denver, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; or Madison, WI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in the full software development lifecycle of cloud-based enterprise applications.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support software in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
  • Design and develop cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
  • Work with REST/SOAP web services, API Gateways, and RDBMS to build scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Ensure software designs meet performance, security, usability, reliability, and scalability requirements.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and design patterns.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement in development standards.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, including production support and performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize applications for performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, DevOps, Product, and Business teams using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Git).
  • Deliver quality software solutions on time.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies, including AI-assisted development practices.
  • Recommend improvements to tools, frameworks, and engineering processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience building high-performance, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications.
  • Strong proficiency with Java, Python, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with MySQL and at least one NoSQL database.
  • Familiarity with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, log analytics, and APM tools.
  • Experience with Apache Camel, messaging systems like RabbitMQ, and Data pipelines.
  • Proficiency with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes (preferred).
  • Microservices design and implementation experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with attention to quality and maintainability.
  • Interest in sustainability and passion for making a meaningful impact on the environment.
  • Preferred: Angular experience.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent).
  • Preferred: Knowledge of the Energy industry and related software systems.
  • Must currently reside in the United States.
