Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant – Youth-led Research Specialist to provide technical leadership for a critical global youth consultation. This role involves designing and implementing a two-stage research process focused on young people's role in peacebuilding and their experiences with instability. You will work closely with Theirworld's Youth Team and Global Youth Ambassadors, ensuring the consultation remains youth-led, well-structured, and impactful. Your expertise will guide the creation of consultation tools, data analysis systems, and capacity-building sessions for young leaders. Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Create a clear delivery framework for the youth-led consultation.
- Lead the design of the two-stage consultation approach.
- Design consultation tools, including qualitative surveys and focus group discussion guides.
- Develop a simple and robust data analysis system.
- Lead on the design and delivery of sessions for Task Team members to analyze findings.
- Provide technical support to the Youth Team and Task Team members on consultation implementation.
- Support initial thematic analysis of Stage One consultation data.
- Design focus group guidelines and provide capacity building to Task Team members.
- Design and deliver structured reflection and sense-making sessions with the Task Team.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in youth participation and youth-led research approaches, ideally with the Peace and Security field.
- Strong background in participatory research methods and qualitative research design.
- Proven experience in leading similar consultation or research projects with young people.
- Experience designing and delivering capacity-building or training for young researchers/facilitators.
- Strong facilitation skills, particularly in supporting youth-led processes.
- Background or experience working on peace and conflict issues.
- Experience translating research findings into policy-relevant outputs.
- Familiarity with education in emergencies or education and peacebuilding contexts.
- Experience working with young people with lived experience of displacement, fragility or instability is a plus.
